What do I need to bring to my appointment:
  • Current referral
  • Test results: x-rays, blood tests etc
  • Discharge summary (if relevant)
  • All information relating to your health that may assist the specialist
What do I need to make an appointment?

To see a Specialist doctor you require an up-to-date referral from your General Practitioner or another doctor. This is a requirement of the Federal Government so you can claim benefits from Medicare. Without a current referral Medicare will not reimburse you for any expenses from a Specialist visit.

If your referral is out of date, you can still see the specialist but may not be able to receive a reimbursement from Medicare. If you have never seen the specialist before or if you have a new problem or sometimes if you have not been seen for a year, the specialist will generally charge a “new consultation” which is a higher fee with a higher Medicare Rebate.

How much will it cost?

The cost for consultations and tests varies with each of our specialists. Our specialists are independent practitioners and each sets their own fees. When you make your appointment you will be informed of the fee to be paid for your consultation and any tests required.

Do I have to pay on the day of consultation?

Yes. We ask that you pay the account in full on the day of consultation.

A receipt will be issued which can be claimed from Medicare, for eligible services. If you are registered with Medicare we are able to send the claim electronically to Medicare on your behalf. Remember, the amount you receive back from Medicare varies.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, we accept credit cards (except AMEX) and have EFTPOS facilities available..
