Dr Benito is an Australian trained Specialist Physician, who has been trained in general internal medicine both in the Philippines and Australia. He’s had sub-speciality training in Geriatric medicine, Stroke medicine and Peri-operative medicine in Australia over the last decade.
Initially he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman 1997, then went on to obtain a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center College of Medicine 2001.
He then underwent internal medical residency training and was awarded the Diplomate in Internal Medicine by Philippine Specialty Board of Internal Medicine of the Philippine College of Physicians in February 2006.
He subsequently migrated to Australia in 2006 and commenced internal medicine Physician Training at St George Hospital and its associated network hospitals (Sydney). He then underwent Advanced Speciality Training in Geriatric Medicine in Westmead, Wollongong and Blacktown Hospitals. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Geriatric Medicine in 2015 (FRACP).
He went on to complete a 12-month Fellowship in Perioperative Medicine with Dr Kujan Nagaratnam in Norwest Private Hospital gaining valuable experience in complex perioperative care in view of improving safety and surgical outcomes.
His clinical and research interests include Stroke Medicine, Delirium, Dementia and Perioperative Medicine. He is involved as an adjudicator for the multinational ENCHANTED Trial (Enhanced Control of Hypertension and Thrombolysis Stroke Study).
He presently holds Staff Specialist appointments in Geriatric Medicine in Blacktown and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospitals. He is also a Visiting Consultant Physician / Geriatrician at The Hills Private, Norwest Private and Macquarie University Hospitals in Sydney, Australia.
