A/Prof Roberts specialisises in disorders of the genitourinary tract including prostate cancer and diseases, kidney stones, haematuria (blood in the urine) and others.

A/Prof Roberts grew up in Brisbane and is a medical graduate from the University of Queensland. He undertook Urology specialty training in Queensland and New South Wales and gained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2020. He has undergone extensive training in robotic surgery and endourology, including techniques such as HoLEP and PCNL, and is certified as a robotic surgeon from the European Association of Urology Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) after completing training at Nepean Hospital, NSW.

Dr. Roberts is a dedicated urologist with a passion for surgical innovation and patient care. He currently has appointments as a consultant Urologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). Dr. Roberts is at the forefront of robotic surgery in Queensland. As the main clinical lead for implementing the robotic surgery program at STARS, he is committed to expanding access to this advanced surgical technology for patients across the region.

Dr. Roberts' dedication to surgical innovation is evident in his introduction of new techniques and patient care pathways, supported by clinically-relevant research aimed at improving cancer outcomes and patient experiences. He is actively involved in various committees, including the European Association of Urology (EAU) Prostate Cancer Guidelines Committee, Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry (PCOR) Qld Steering Committee and USANZ Research and Education Committees, demonstrating his commitment to advancing urological care.

As an Associate Professor and Group Leader of the Prostate Theranostics and Urological Diseases Research Group at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR), Dr. Roberts combines his clinical expertise with a passion for research. With over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts published and numerous invitations and presentations at international conferences, he is a respected authority in the field.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Roberts cherishes time spent with his young family and enjoys staying active through competitive basketball and fitness pursuits.
